Number You Won’t Forget: 3.5 Percent
You might think you need to lose a lot of weight to reduce your risk of disease significantly. But research suggests that even small shifts can make a big difference.
Scientists found that people who lost just 3.5 percent of their body weight lowered their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by nearly 40 percent.
More than 96 million American adults—roughly 1 in 3—have pre-diabetes. And many of them are told they need to make drastic lifestyle changes to avoid a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. But that’s not the case.
The benefits begin at lower percentages of weight loss and continue to improve as you make more progress. Achieving weight loss of 5 to 7 percent of your weight can reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes by nearly 60 percent.
If you’ve ever felt like the mountain is too high to climb — or if you know someone struggling with their health — there’s plenty of reason to think change is just around the corner. Remember: you don’t need to reach the summit on day one. Even the first few steps can set you on a better path.

The Nutrient Advantage You’re Probably Missing
Most people think protein is just about the grams. But the smartest eaters know it’s about what your body actually absorbs.
Bioavailability is the difference between consuming food for calories and ensuring your body maximizes the health benefits of the foods you eat.
That’s why wild-harvested venison (like Maui Nui) is such a powerful weapon in your nutritional toolbox. Yes, it has the highest protein-to-calorie ratio of any red meat. But what really sets it apart is how well your body uses it.
Because Maui Nui’s venison is harvested humanely and without stress, it preserves delicate nutrients like B vitamins and omega-3s. Maui Nui delivers heme iron, zinc, and vitamin B12 in their most bioavailable form, which means more energy, faster recovery, and better performance.
Research shows that heme iron from red meat is absorbed up to four times better than the non-heme iron found in plants and supplements. That makes a big difference for active individuals, women with higher iron needs, or anyone focused on peak performance.
If you're going to eat protein, make sure it's working for you.
To experience the nutritional upgrade, check out Maui Nui Venison. There’s a reason it’s known as “the healthiest red meat on the planet.” It packs 53 percent more protein per calorie than grass-fed beef and is low in saturated fat.
Their sticks are high in protein, low in fat and carbs, and have less than 100 calories, which makes them the perfect snack. Or, check out their fresh starter box — all APC approved.

A New Double-Defense Against Headaches
If you’re tired of powering through headaches, scientists might have a new way to ease your pain.
Combining alpha-linolenic acid and L-carnitine may help alleviate headaches, reduce migraine attacks, support mental health, and improve overall quality of life.
Researchers studied women battling consistent migraines. Half received a daily dose of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, 1,000 mg) and L-carnitine (500 mg), while the others got a placebo.
After 12 weeks, migraine frequency dropped by nearly three attacks per month, severity and duration also decreased significantly, and depression and anxiety scores dropped dramatically.
The combination of ALA and l-carnitine targets key mechanisms of migraines, like inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neurotransmitter imbalances. Although it’s just one study, the results were promising for short-term use. It’s always best to consult with your doctor, but both ALA and L-carnitine have a low-risk profile and are associated with other health benefits.
And that’s it for this week. Thank you for being a part of the positive corner of the internet, and we hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
